Conundrums in Cognition: Planning for the Future

Kimberly A. Whaley, Mark Handelman, and Erin C. Cowling, Whaley Estate Litigation

Today’s world is one of changing social demographics. Our population is aging. Family units are more complex. With increased longevity comes an increase in medical issues affecting cognition, capacity and, so too, the susceptibility to becoming vulnerable and dependant.

At Whaley Estate Litigation (“WEL”) we see the problems that families and friends face when persons become incapable of managing their own finances and their personal care. Often there is a dispute as to who should be making the decisions. Had proper, or any, planning been put into place, these disputes may have been avoided.

It is important to plan for your future now. Enquiries should be made. Professionals consulted. This book and our chapter written collaboratively by Kim, Mark and Erin entitled “Conundrums in Cognition: Planning for the Future” will hopefully assist you in starting the planning process now.
